  1. I think this is a great book because it described the characters really nicely. it was a little easy to read but it is worth it. i like the part when she make a Taiwanese-American friend named Melanie. It is nice the author put in some facts about the Taiwanese culture. You can both learn about and enjoy this book. It was great when in some parts she shares family stories and embarrasing moments (embarrasing things that happened to her and her family). I like the part when she shares how her mom once slept in school and what they done to her(I won't tell what happened because then you won't enjoy the book!)This is an awesome book!

  2. I loved this book, and the sequel, both beautifully written. Once again I really enjoyed how Pacy went through evryday life, that almost everyone has to go through at one point or another. I especially enjoyed how the author describes the camp that Pacy and her family went to during the war, I thought that chapter was great. But lastly, what I really liked about this book, was that it was basically a fiction autoboigraphy. That's right, the author wrote about her life, and the life she wished she had as a kid, and expertlly fused them together, to make this awesome masterpeice. Bravo!

  7. I enjoyed this book very much. The author,Grace Lin did a wonderful job on the book. My favorite chapter is when it is Chinese New Year which is in the begining of the book. It is intresting that the author tells smaller stories in the main
story in the book. I recommnd this book.

My favorite part was the ending because it was funny and interesting because it talks about a girl thats Taiwanese, Chinese, and American. It's fascinating to find out what a girl of many cultures life is about. I highly recommend this book to others because it's a great book to read. PB Gr5 SPG

  10. I think that Stumptown Kid was a very good book because it was very descriptive and highly entertaining. It was espesally entertaining when Ruckus Broady tried to kill Luther Peal. The story had a happy but sad ending. Altogether, it was a very good book. SP Gr 5 SPG

  13. The book, "The Year of the Dog" was great! It had a great theme to it. I liked this book because it taught you life lessons. I learned that you need to speak up and you might make a friend. I wonder why Grace didn't believe that she had the guts to make friends? Why didn't she believe in herself? I would recommend this book to a friend in need. This book inspired me a lot!

  15. I really enjoyed this book because it teaches the lesson "Keep trying and you will eventually succeed." I know this because the main character Grace tried to make friends and eventually she made friends. This book really inspired me to make more friends even though I have many. This book reminded me of my fist day I came to my new school. Just like Grace I had trouble making friends. After a while I started to make many friends by playing with them and finding out things that we had in common. I f your not making a lot of friends read this book to help you find ways to make friends.

  16. The book was mediocre.I think it had too many Taiwanese words. They were really hard to understand. One part of the book is that they moved from Taiwan to New Hartford,New York.

  18. The Year of the Dog is mediocre. However it also teaches a lesson, which is don't lie. When Pacy lied she and Becky almost broke up. Its mediocre because Pacy and her family move from Taiwan but switch languages from Taiwanese to English quickly. I'd recommend this book to anyone who celebrates the Chinese New Year holiday or know about it. Oh yeah, Happy Year of the Dog!
