Rules by Cynthia Lord

If you have to tell your autistic brother “to keep his pants on in public,” how can you hope for a normal life? Catherine discovers that her own behavior with new neighbor Kristi and wheelchair-bound Jason make her look again at what “normal” really means.

  1. I had a lot of sympathy for Catherine and I like how she became friends with Jason.

  2. I thought that this nutmeg book was sort of hard to follow. I had a hard time figuring out the settings. But I also thought that the book had a great plot. In conclusion, I think that Rules is still an awesome book.

  3. I do not think this nutmeg book is hard to follow I read it and I think it was a nice book.It described things nicely about how this girl has an autistic brother and she is embarrassed about his behavior. I like the parts in when she makes special rules and tries to make her brother remember.I don't think this book was really hard to follow and it wasn't that hard to figure out the setting.

  4. Yeah Ec, I don't know how you could say that. I thought that this book was one of the more easy ones to follow, and loved the author's use of descriptiveness. I also enjoyed the humor in this book, and found it funny how annoyed Catherine got every time her autistic brother did something wrog or against the Rules. Enjoy your reading of the amazingly written Rules.

  10. I LOVE THIS BOOK!!This book explains so much about autism and about how you should be yourself. One thing I really like about this book is that she mostly always helps out her brother and calms him down.I also loved it when she went to the disabled boy,s birthday party even though he was disabled.

  11. I learned that sometimes people think they know you, but they really don't . I know this because, in Rules, people thought Kathrine was fine with David being autistic, and sometimes people thought they understood Jason, but they didn't. This is what I learned from Rules.

  12. I really liked the part where Catherine and Jason are at the dance. I like this because when they were there they became closer. Catherine apologized to him for not inviting Jason to the dance because she didn't want Kristi to see that Jason was in a wheelchair, that's where Catherine got everything back together. I also learned that even though Jason couldn't walk or talk he was still determined, that was something I liked about the character a lot. This is what I liked and learned from the book Rules by Cynthia Lord.

  13. It was fairly exciting. It was a little different than I expected. I didn't think it was the best Nutmeg nominee.
